Intensive & Extended Chemical Dependency (CD) Care

The basis of our “Intensive and Extended” chemical dependency care is highly structured, primary chemical dependency therapy  in which the client resides with us while receiving services. We are a 12 step program and focus on group therapy.  This program is specifically designed for a client to achieve maximum awareness of the role of chemicals in key areas of their lives and the lives of others. Lodging and many additional services are provided at no additional cost of our CD treatment programs.

Primary Chemical Dependency Therapy Includes:

  • Group counseling
  • Guest, staff and video presentations
  • Individual counseling
  • Individualized CD care planning
  • Aftercare recommendations
  • Relapse Prevention
  • Goals for sobriety
  • Coping with triggers

Most of this therapy is group counseling at least two times each day.  There are also opportunities for individual sessions with primary counselors and other Riverplace staff.  An extensive video library dealing with chemical dependency topics is also available.

Riverplace is especially privileged to have participation from several excellent speakers and groups along with Riverplace staff who are all pleased to share their strength, hope and experiences while treating individuals with dignity and respect.  Along with various assignments, individuals continually work with their counselors and group on individualized treatment and aftercare plans.

Related Groups
In addition to various kinds of one to one counseling, groups other than primary chemical dependency therapy groups may be of assistance to individuals and others who have been affected.

Outside weekly AA, NA, or CA meetings
All persons who attend Riverplace participate in at least one outside AA, NA or CA meeting each week.

Special group topics

Some examples of special topic groups may include “drugs other than alcohol”, “anger”, “parenting”, and domestic abuse” plus many other topics.

Extended Care

In extended care the client will demonstrate an ability to develop long and short term goals that will reduce anxiety and support his or her sobriety. Clients will gain the ability to express positive emotions and improve communication skills if needed. We will help clients assemble a plan for dealing with anger, anxiety and coping skills in a healthy productive manner. We will also have the client explore ways in which impulsivity has contributed to their use of alcohol or drugs in the past. Goal areas also include working to increase motivation and readiness to change by increasing awareness of the disease concept and the effects of chemical use on his or her life and those around them. Clients learn to become aware of the relapse process and will develop a relapse prevention plan.
